Lentil Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried green lentils
  • 1 medium stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 medium carrot, chopped
  • 1 large yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped 
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 32oz (4 cups) chicken broth, low fat, low sodium
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons tomato sauce, unsalted
